ABOUT US AND WHERE WE LIVE

START OF KINELARTY BERNESE
4 GENERATIONS STARTING WITH OUR FIRST BERNESE FLORA

We live in Northern Ireland, In what is known as Saint Patrick's Country

also as Ballynahinch, our market town is in the centre of County Down it is also known as the Heart of Down, .

INELARTY BERNESE FOUNDED SOLELY BY SALLY MURPHY on 11/2/2003

My family always had pets e.g. pet rabbits, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, birds, pet goats and lambs. but the love of dogs was uppermost. we had Cairn terriers and Rough collies and Shelties.

My youngest son TIMOTHY introduced us to the "Most beautiful dog in the world" i.e. Bernese Mountain Dogs".In 2001 I was very fortunate to get my first bernese  Flora from Mrs. S.Clarke (whose lines started from the first bernese brought into Ireland by Michael Forte which were passed on to Bernie Ladd and Her daughter Yvonne Cannon)
However Flora and another dog I purchased Flame did not come into my sole procession (as they were wrongly registered in my ex husbands name )until 7/7/2002.

We have striven  aim to breed for excellence.

Then I opened a Bed and Breakfast and this was the time I met a gentleman who resided with me when on business to Ireland. He had a most beautiful dog (Flatcoated retriever) who was excellent in field work, obedience and in the show ring. Harry introduced us to the show ring, and it was through him my youngest son Timothy and my eldest son Andrew was introduced to dog showing and they started to show my bernese work permitting , and so KINELARTY BERNESE WAS STARTED.
Andrew also was introduced to the flatcoated retrievers through Harry and ended up eventually owning three, These were also added to the Kinelarty kennel name.

Our aims in our breeds is for longevity and good health. So we have all our dogs health checked by
Hip and elbow scoring and the. We also help in health studies.

In our aim for excellence we became Accredited breeders with the kennel club London in 2005 and until 2010 we were the only one in Ireland for one of our breeds.
Being accredited breeders means we will not breed our bitches until all health tests are done and we will breed in accordance to what we have signed up for.

Our dogs are house dogs and our puppies are all reared in the house.

Our Bernese do carting displays. They just love showing off to the general public how they were bred for carting to bring the farmer's produce to market in their homeland of the Switzerland.

If anyone would like us to put on a display for charity work we would happily love to help and so would the dogs.
We are the first Bernese in Ireland to do the working
test.
A WORKING DOG IS A HAPPY DOG.

Our dogs also love agility work. so we are also doing agility and obedience work with them.
As you can see our dogs have many things to occupy them and keep them and us health.

In 2010 Andrew got married and joined his wife in her kennel name with the flat coats. Later due to family commitments he stopped showing my bernese
However:-

Sally Murphy and her son Philip are now REGISTERED owners KINELARTY BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOGS.
but in reality the dogs are owned by the whole family at home, or should I say we are owned by the Bernese. This is especially true of my youngest son Timothy who helps by bringing me to shows etc.

TIMOTHY IS MY MAIN HANDLER ASSISTED BY MY GOOD FRIEND PROFESSIONAL HANDLER ADAM BURNSIDE, LIBERTIA KENNELS.
PHILIP HELPS OUT ON OCCASION.

as said previously KINELARTY BERNESE Started from the original bernese first brought into Ireland, and then we bred with Monalou, going on from that to breed with a NORWEGIAN IMPORT DALE GUDBRAND'S GEILO ZALA AT STAUBACH.
We sincerely thank these kennels which helped make Kinelarty a Kennel to be proud of.

KINELARTY BERNESE HAVE NOW EXPANDED BY IMPORTING A BERNESE FROM THE WORLD WINNERS KENNEL STARRY TOWN. AND WE HAVE ALSO BRED OUR TILLIE TO ANOTHER STARRY TOWN OWNED DOG KRONBLOMMAS JONATHAN

ALSO WE IMPORTED FROM SPAIN A BEAUTIFUL BITCH FROM JENNY CRUESTA WHOSE SIRE IS THE MULTI CHAMPION SOUTHCOURT QUEBRANTO (MCcAIN) owned by Antonio and Anna.

We are enjoying showing our new dogs which we hope by bringing in new blood to our already good lines we shall improve on the breed.

We also have now gone into showing on the continent with a good measure of success
